why would someone clip their fingernails in such a tiny quiet study room?
October 2nd, 2005
I used to study at Robarts Library, but I choose to study at Bahan recently coz it is closer to the computer labs; it opens 24/7; and there are usually more people studying here.
I dun like noisy places when I’m trying to concentrate and work. I’d “Shush” people who talk too loud in a quiet study area , but I dun like being alone either. It’s always better to have someone around …… to know that you’re not the only one who has to work.
There, however, are always some really annoying people in that tiny CS study area on the 2nd floor of Bahen. It’s not that I want to discriminate people from mainland China, but they tend to talk very loud and they dun respect people at a certain extent.
Today…Sunday…… I arrived at Bahen at 5p.m. after shopping at the UofT Bookstore. Surprising, there were many people in the building. 1/3 of the CS study room was full. Well…..I’m totally fine with that as long as everyone is doing their work and not making too much noise; BUT a few Mandarin speakers went in and out of the room very frequently, and they were chatting in the room, or right at the door. I dun understand why they stood at the door and talked for so long without realizing that it’d be better for others if they close the door and talk outside.
Later, I even heard the sound of a fingernail clipper in the room. It sounded really disgusting……
I know…I know everyone has to clip their fingernails once in a while BUT not in a quiet study area, right?!!!!!!
Therefore, I put on my earphones and used music to cover those annoying sounds ……
