Why are there so many things that convince me to get a Mac laptop?
January 19th, 2006
There’re both good and bad about digging Digg. I actually haven’t paid much attention to it for a month. (It seems like years to me.) Well, I somehow started digging again tonight. (Hope I won’t get too addicted like I did before -_-)
Anyway, I just saw an article on Digg about switching to Mac: The Switch. A Boy and A Powerbook. There’s something really true I find in this article. The writer said the reason his g/f wanted a Mac was mostly because she liked the design.
He said,
“She’s a girl and she makes purchase decisions based on factors such as cuteness and design not technical specs.”
This is so darn true. LoL. I won’t deny that I make purchase decisions in the same way … though I should be more conscious of the performance of a computer.
Anyway, this is not the main reason why I blog this article. The main reason is …it is encouraging me to get a Mac.
Recently Alvin posted a comment on my recent blog: “get ibook or macbook pro!!! not only it looks nice, it’s also unix based.”
We in Computer Science all know that Unix is a better system than Windows. All software engineers at the “recent” Google talk at UofT said that they didn’t use Windows … though they were building applications for the Windows system.
Moreover, most of the professors in the CS Department are using either iBook or PowerBook; and I’ve been seeing a lot of people in Bahen using an Apple. I had TA using it, too.
Well, I tried to tell myself that all these people simply care about the look of an Apple; but then I just had another professor using an iBook for his lectures. Sure there must be something really good about it.
Anyway, MacBook Pro seems too big to me. 15″ widescreen, right? I guess I will just go for 12″. Maybe they will have it later. Even if they won’t, they probably will have a new iBook coz Steve Jobs said all Apples will switch to Intel chips by 2006 June. I dun remember where I heard it from, but I’m pretty sure that there wil be some new Apples.
